The Green World 2011 – the jury has chosen the best works

The International Contest of Children‘s and Youth’s Artistic Creativity Green World has been a part of the Envirofilm festival for 16 years. (since the second year of the festival). This year the 16th year of the contest is held under the patronage of Slovak commission for UNESCO, European Environmental Agency and with cooperation with The European Commission representation. Its main theme is the Forests for water and wetlands.

This year 147 schools from Slovakia have participated in the contest by submitting 1024 works. 921 works have been sent to the Drawing, Painting, Graphics and Combined Techniques category, 98 to the black-and-white and colour photography category and 5 to the Animated cartoon category. The schools form abroad sent 76 works (Belarus, Serbia, Poland, Czech Republic, China, Romania and Latvia). In total 939 authors (72 from abroad) participate at this year’s Green World with 1100 art works.
                         
On Friday 1st April 2011 the jury of Green World 2011 met at the Slovak environmental agency. The jury consisting of Ladislav Vojtuš, Tomáš Čepek a Leo Redlinger evaluated all the submitted works. They suggested awarding 8 prizes in the Drawing, Painting, Graphics and Combined Techniques category, one prize in the animated cartoon category and two in the black-and-white and colour photography category. They suggested also the Main prize of the Green world 2011 donated by European Commision Representation, as well as the Jury prize, Prize for graphics, Prize for the best foreign work and another two prizes donated by European environmental agency in Copenhagen and Radio station Regina.
During the prize awarding ceremonial of Green world 2011, traditionally held on the first day of the festival (16th May), 16 authors will be awarded- individuals and two collectives. The names of the awarded authors will be announced there. The exhibition of not only the winning works of Green World will be a part of the Envirofilm 2011.
