ENVIROFILM 2013 to join the European campaign for the climate improvement

Captivating films on topical issues of environmental protection and attractive accompanying events

The 19th Environmental Film Festival ENVIROFILM 2013 has been involved in the European campaign “A world you like. With a climate you like”. It was launched by Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action. ENVIROFILM opens its doors to the public on the 3rd June 2013 on the occasion of the World Environment Day.

ENVIROFILM 2013 will be enriched with the exhibition of works of the 18th International Contest of Children’s and Youth’s Artistic Creativity Green World on the theme My visions for a world I like. Other accompanying events include screening of non-competing films, seminars and discussions with outstanding guests of the festival, filmmakers and experts from the field of environmental protection.

ENVIROFILM is a competition of films and TV programmes with environmental issues. Only films produced after the 1st January 2010 will be accepted for the competition. Authors can submit their works via an online entry form on the website of the festival.

Deadline for entry forms and films delivery: 8th February 2013.

The international environmental film festival ENVIROFILM originated in1995 and is held every year in May. Its centre is Banská Bystrica. Last year 130 authors from 26 world countries showed their interest in ENVIROFILM.  During the eighteen years of the festival existence filmmakers from all over the world sent to the competition 2 043 films. Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic is the promulgator of the festival and Slovak Environmental Agency and Envirofilm n.o. are the organisers. The European Environment Agency and the Slovak Commission for UNESCO assumed the patronage of the event. Festival co-organisers: Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia; Union of Slovak Television Programme Makers, Bratislava; the Slovak Film Institute, Bratislava; Slovak Mining Museum, Banská Štiavnica; State Nature Conservancy of Slovakia; Technical University in Zvolen; Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica; Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica; University of Central Europe in Skalica; Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region; cities of Banská Bystrica, Banská Štiavnica, Košice, Kremnica, Krupina, Nitra, Poltár, Skalica and Zvolen; the RTVS (Radio and TV of Slovakia) and Slovak Olympic Committee.
