  THE GREEN WORLD 2012The 17th International Contest of Children’s and Youth’s Artistic Creativity held in conjunction with the International Environmental Film Festival - ENVIROFILM 2012. Objective The topic of the year 2011: My footprint on this planet Whether we live in Europe or in America, in a city or in a village, whether we study or work our life depends every day on natural resources the Earth provides us. Each of us leaves a smaller or a bigger footprint on the environment - our ecological footprint! We can imagine it as a part of the Earth’s surface we need in order to obtain everything for our daily consumption (water, food, clothing, electricity, heat, products and equipment) and to dispose waste we produce. The bigger our footprint, the greater the impact on our planet. We have only one Earth and about 6.7 billion people draw on its reserves now. However, some have been claiming its natural resources more than others. If every person in the world lived like an average American, people would need not one but four to five planets. If everyone lived like us, Slovaks, we would need two to three such planets. Therefore, let’s think and ask the question: what does my footprint on this planet look like? How does it impact environment - positively or negatively? Is it fair to other inhabitants of the Earth? Let us try to capture it with a brush, camera lens or a camera eye and also make at least a small step towards reducing it. Organisation and the course of the contest: Venue of the exhibition: Banská Bystrica, Museum SNP and City Hall There are no preliminary rounds to this international contest. The works should be submitted directly, in person or by mail, to the Slovak Environmental Agency in Banská Bystrica before 16 March 2012. Drawing, painting, graphics and combined techniques

Technical Terms of Participation: In the category drawing, painting, graphics and combined techniques the works must not be rolled up or folded. Please do not send works that are three-dimensional, glazed or framed. Following information needs to be given on the reverse side: author’s name, age, home address and school address; work title, year of origination (not more than 1 year old), name of the teacher if the work was created at school and in another organisation, the address of the organisation submitting the work. Do not affix the stamp of the school/organisation at the reverse side of the drawing, because it devalues the drawing. Maximum format is A0 size. No limitations apply to the techniques used. . In case of pastel colours it is necessary to fix the pastel. Do not send drawings on CD carriers. Submitted works must comply with requested technical conditions (film base, format, quality). Competing works without duly filled in data or delivered after the deadline will not be admitted for the contest! The works will not be returned to the authors! Entering the contest the authors agree with non-commercial use of their works. Awarded works will be displayed at the Internet gallery of the Green World in the information portal www.enviroportal.sk and www.envirofilm.sk. During the competitive exhibition of the Green World’s works, during the Envirofilm festival, approximately 1, 000 successful young authors will be presented. Some will be framed and will decorate the premises of the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Environmental Agency, hospitals and schools.
