• The objective of the Festival is to present and award new films, TV and video programmes that by their contents and artistic level help to disseminate ideas about nature and environmental protection.
• ENVIROFILM provides an opportunity for international co-operation and exchange of opinions and helps to find new ways for their application. It is a meeting place for creative filmmakers and experts.
• The programme of the Festival consists of the international contest of films, video and TV programmes, projection of non-competition films, conferences, professional and creative seminars and workshops, „green talks“ – discussions with public, press conferences, exhibitions, international competitions and accompanying events for children and youth.
• Film and video programmes submitted for the Festival should focus on nature and environmental protection, sustainable development, environmental friendly technologies and healthy lifestyles.
• The Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic is the promulgator of ENVIROFILM 2006 and the Slovak Environmental Agency in Banská Bystrica in co-operation with the Union of Slovak Television Programme Makers, cities of Banská Bystrica, Banská Štiavnica and Zvolen are the organisers of the Festival.
• The 12th International Festival ENVIROFILM will be held on 1 – 6 May 2006 in Banská Bystrica, Banská Štiavnica and Zvolen.
• Slovak and English are official Festival languages.
• ENVIROFILM is the member of the Association of Environmental Festivals ECOMOVE International and it participates in the organisation of the Festival of International Environmental Film Festivals ECOMOVE in Berlin (www.ecomove.de).
• Their producers, distributors, owners, authors and legal entities may submit films and video programmes for the international contest.
• Only films and videos produced after the 1st January 2004 will be accepted for the international contest. Participation in other festivals does not preclude from the participation in ENVIROFILM. Number of films and video programmes submitted for the contest is unlimited.
• 16-mm films, BETACAM SP, DVCAM and DV cassettes are acceptable for the public projection.
The organiser prefers following carriers:
a) DVD of the highest quality without copy protection
b) mini DV, DV and DVCAM in PAL standard
c) BETACAM SP in PAL standard
Films and video programmes sent on SVHS and VHS cassettes cannot be awarded by the jury and will be included in the projection by request.
• The optimum length of films and video programmes is not more than 1 hour.
• Every film must have a title and the filled in entry form must be sent with it.
• A short film summary (annotation) in English, German, Czech or Slovak is requested, as well as a photo, professional biography and filmography of the author. The text should be delivered on the 3.5 diskette in DOC (MS-Word) format and 1 hard copy.
• The film must be accompanied with a complete commentary in one of the following languages: English, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Czech or Slovak with scientific (Latin) names of flora and fauna. Films without the commentary will not be accepted for the contest.
• Films and videocassettes must be delivered to the address shown on the entry form before
10 February 2006. Mail and insurance charges are to be covered by the sender, costs connected with the return of cassettes by the Festival organisers.
• Registration forms for personal attendance are to be sent to the address of the organisers by
15 April 2006.
• Accredited participants will obtain information materials upon the registration and have free entry to the Festival and to all accompanying events.
• The costs connected with the stay in the Festival are to be covered by participants themselves.
• The Festival organisers provide for and cover the accommodation of awarded authors or their representatives, lecturers and performers in accompanying events.
• The awarded entries remain for good in the video library of the Slovak Environmental Agency and will not be used for commercial purposes.
• After the Festival, films and video programmes will be screened from September to December 2006 at post-festival non-commercial cine-meetings in the Slovak Republic.
• Selected and awarded entries can be screened free of charge in television at the territory of the Slovak Republic and at the Festival of International Environmental Film Festivals ECOMOVE International.
• The non-awarded works will be returned to the entrants after 31 August 2006.
• Film submission for screening in the contest means at the same time the consent with the wording of these Rules.
