The Grand Prize of Envirofilm 2008 was awarded to the Swiss film Greina and The Prize of the Mayor of Banská Bystrica was given to Santi´s Magic Flute. These prizes for Swiss directors were given to The Chairman of European Club in Banská Bystrica - Andrej Kvasna by The Minister of Environment of Slovak Republic – Jaroslav Izák and also by The Chairman of International Film Jury – Jan Gogola.

The French director Pierre Mann was the winner in Category B ( documentary films ) – the category with the largest field of competitors. His artwork Stories of People from the Bush captivated the film jury with an exceptional testimony about natural people in the African bush.

The movie Silence by Slovak authors Jana Sadloňová and Róbert Rajchl won in the category D ( free production and films for children and the youth)

The Prize for the best amateur film was given to the film Wings of Miro Saniga directed by Pavol Baláž and Vladimír Bobáľ

The Prize of the Mayor of Kremnica awarded to the film Peace with the Seals was passed to the Chairman of International Film Jury – Jan Gogola by the Mayor of Kremnica Zuzana Balážová.

The Prize of the Chairman of Banská Bystrica Self – Governing Office was given to the film A Ribbon of Sand, directed by John Grabowska – for the best movie promoting tourism. The prize was taken over by Bill Parks from the U.S.A.

The Director of the Festival – Jaroslav Jaduš also awarded the Special Prize to the film Captives of the White God for bearing the most critical message. The prize was taken over by the film director Steve Lichtag and cameraman Tomáš Ryška

This year at the festival, The Union of Slovak Television Programme Makers and Literary Fond awarded the artwork of Jaroslav Mikuš. He was awarded the Prize by the Chairwoman of the Union of Slovak Television Programme Makers and the member of the film festival jury Katerina Javorská.

Tomáš Hulík ( on the right ) contributed Envirofilm 2008 with his Photographs Exposition – The High Tatras – A Wilderness Frozen in Time. He was also a cameraman in this artwork. This film was very popular with children .
