THE GREEN WORLD 2013

The 18th International Contest of Children’s and Youth’s Artistic Creativity takes place in conjunction with the International Environmental Film Festival - ENVIROFILM 2013. It is organised in cooperation with the European Commission Representation in Slovakia and under the patronage of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO and the European Environment Agency.

Objective

To instil love for nature and the environment into children by creation of habits and skills in their artistic self-expression. Works submitted to the contest should have a creative and motivating character representing the children’s attitude to life and nature.

The topic of the year 2013: My visions for a world I like.

Look out the window! What do you see right now? Are you looking at a lot of buildings, factories, roofs and chimneys, which currently emit smoke? Do you see a lot of cars, buses, people on bikes, or people who rush somewhere? Do you see people gasping for breath and angry with full shopping bags?
Or when looking outside, do you see the beauty in the form of green meadows, forests and clear streams? A landscape with many trees and lots of animals, people who are friendly, nice and helpful to each other? A place where people respect what they have, do not destroy the gifts of nature and what their ancestors left them.
We are not to be blamed for where we live, where we go to school, what neighbours we have. But we can influence our behaviour, our daily relation to nature, to our environment and to our loved ones. It is up to us whether we are happy with what we have, or whether we will enforce better toys, clothes and things, we do not need from our parents.
Surely, you were observing the surroundings when walking with your parents or teachers. Long ago you noticed the places that you like and that quiet you. However, you found also places you would like to change, perhaps because we humans have destroyed them, and you want get them revitalised, cleaned and changed.
